FireFox Sets A New Worlds Record

firefox.png

According to Guinness World Records Fire Fox has set a new download record in a 24 hour period. The previous record was 5 million. FireFox tops 8 million!!!

You think that’s big news, well their two week count tops 28 million downloads. I am happy to say I was one of the folks who helped Mozilla achieve this new worlds record!

I joined Twitter Yesterday

Yesterday! Yes, I knew about Twitter from the very start but really paid little attention to the site.

Shame on me!

However, with its growing popularity I have joined the community. Yes, you could say I am jumping on the band wagon or you could say I was late to the party… I like the latter. So, what was my excuse for ignoring Twitter for so long? I was so busy working on my blog network, I couldn’t imagine taking on another content driven experience.

So if you want to follow me on twitter click here: http://twitter.com/trafficisgold

Find Hackers on your site

Ok not really, but kind of close. I installed a new plugin called WordPress Exploit Scanner. The plugin will search your database and files to look for common code used by hackers.

“Scans your WordPress site for possible exploits By Donncha O Caoimh.”

I scanned my blog using the new plugin and the only files that came back as a possible threats, wear the ones used by the actual plugin. Kind of funny, but to be fair the plugin does state the following:

Don’t worry if ‘/wp-content/plugins/exploit-scanner/exploit-scanner.php’ is listed above. That’s a good sign because this script obviously has all the text to search for and it’s working properly!

It’s a very nice tool to have.

Free Social is Coming!

Buddypress.com will be the next generation of the web. What is BuddyPress?

From their website:
“BuddyPress is a set of WordPress MU specific plugins, each plugin adding a distinct new feature. BuddyPress contains all the features you’d expect from WordPress but aims to let members socially interact.”

BuddyPress will do for social networking, what wordPress did for blogs. Click here for some sneak peeks at the interface.

I really like the look and feel of BP. I can’t wait to get my hands on a stable version…
